What's New for the 2026 BMW iX

2026 BMW iX Exterior

Exterior

The exterior of the 2026 iX combines confident power with minimalist elegance, adopting a "less is more" design language. Classic BMW SUV proportions are preserved, but the overall look is even more monolithic and sporty, with clean surfaces and a more sculpted profile. Up front, the redesigned double kidney grille commands attention with an illuminated frame (optional on xDrive45 and xDrive60, standard on M70), highlighted by vertical and diagonal lines for a modern signature. The new headlights integrate vertical LED elements for daytime running lights and turn signals, echoing the grille theme. On the sides, the silhouette appears sleeker and longer. The rear emphasizes width, with a seamless full-width tailgate and a new bumper integrating a diffuser—exclusive to the M70 xDrive and available with the M Sport package on other versions. Standard wheels are 20-inch for xDrive45 and xDrive60, but 21- or 22-inch aerodynamic wheels are available. The M70 features exclusive 22-inch M wheels. For the first time, 23-inch V-spoke Individual wheels are also available, all made from 70% recycled aluminum to reduce weight and drag. Five new colors, including Arctic Race Blue, Dune Grey, Carbon Black, Frozen Deep Grey, and Tanzanite Blue, expand the palette, and Titanium Bronze finish is optional on xDrive45 and xDrive60. M Sport and M Sport Pro packages, as well as unique M details for the M70, add black accents, red calipers, and even bolder styling cues.

2026 BMW iX Interior

Interior

The iX cabin embodies progressive luxury and modern comfort, without compromising on sportiness. The spacious layout maximizes room for all occupants, while high-quality materials and meticulous finishes create a contemporary, elegant atmosphere. The M Sport package, available on xDrive45 and xDrive60 (standard on M70), adds an M leather steering wheel, two-tone dashboard, dark trim accents, and M pedals. New M multifunction seats stand out with deep side bolsters, a wide range of adjustments, and excellent support. The microfibre/Sensatec upholstery with tricolor M stitching is exclusive to the M70, with Amido or Castanea natural leather options available on other models. The optional Sky Lounge panoramic roof on xDrive45 and xDrive60 (standard on M70) bathes the cabin in light and features electrochromic shading activated at the touch of a button. The Heat Comfort package (standard on M70) heats multiple cabin zones for year-round comfort. An optional Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround sound system offers 30 speakers, including seat-integrated exciters, for an immersive audio experience. Spacious rear seating, a flat floor, and practical cargo space make the iX both welcoming and functional. Premium finishes, ambient lighting, and refined tactile quality make the iX interior a uniquely appealing space.

Powertrain in the 2026 BMW iX

Powertrain

BMW’s mastery of electric powertrains is fully realized in the new iX, offered in three powerful configurations. The iX xDrive45 delivers 402 hp and a remarkable 700 lb-ft of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds. The xDrive60 offers 536 hp and 765 lb-ft, dropping the 0-100 km/h time to 4.6 seconds; both are electronically limited to 200 km/h. For thrill-seekers, the M70 xDrive delivers 650 hp and 1,015 lb-ft, reaching 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (with appropriate tires). Each version benefits from optimized management electronics, including new silicon carbide (SiC) inverters for more efficient energy conversion and improved heat management. Battery capacities are generous: 100.1 kWh for the xDrive45, 113.4 kWh for the xDrive60, and 112.8 kWh for the M70. Real-world range is impressive: up to 502 km for the xDrive45, 547 km for the xDrive60, and 486 km for the M70 xDrive (according to BMW AG, EPA standards). All versions include all-wheel drive, a single-speed automatic transmission, and sophisticated suspensions (double wishbone front, multi-link rear, adaptive dampers, M air suspension on M70). Options include integral active steering, M Sport brakes, and the dynamic handling package for enhanced agility and comfort. Towing capacity reaches 1,587 kg with the optional hitch.
