Unveiled in May of 2022, the all-new 2023 BMW 3 Series brings a host of subtle enhancements to BMW's popular luxury sedan without altering its core identity. With this new generation of 3 Series, BMW aims to preserve everything that has contributed to the 3 Series' success over the years while adding more features. The exterior of the 3 Series also receives subtle but noteworthy updates. Here we take a look at everything that’s new and stands out about the new-generation BMW 3 Series.

Refined and Elegant Design

The current-generation BMW 3 Series received multiple improvements to the exterior. Notably, the grille is less pronounced and wider, while the headlights feature a unique and more distinctive LED signature. Additionally, the hood is more sculpted. Overall, the 2023 3 Series' design is more aggressive and sportier. yet remains elegant. The M340i xDrive returns for the 2023 model year, boasting exclusive visual touches such as a mesh grille and 19-inch M-exclusive wheels. The M340i also features trapezoidal exhaust tips and a rear spoiler.

Significant Interior Changes

The most prominent changes made to the BMW 3 Series can be found inside. BMW has redesigned the dashboard, incorporating the dual-screen BMW Curved Display system, which includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument screen behind the steering wheel paired with a 14.9-inch central screen. The latter integrates BMW's new iDrive 8 infotainment system, boasting a faster processor and a cloud-based BMW Maps navigation system. The centre console now features a lever for controlling the standard 8-speed gearbox.

Multiple Powertrain Improvements

The 2023 BMW 330i xDrive is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. In addition to its impressive power, this engine also delivers an exceptional fuel consumption of less than 8.0 litres per 100 kilometres.

The BMW 330e and 330e xDrive 2023 models return as well, featuring an unchanged plug-in hybrid engine that still generates 288 horsepower and offers a range of approximately 37 kilometres.

Lastly, the 2023 BMW M340i features a new 3.0-litre inline-six biturbo engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. Total power output reaches 382 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, while fuel consumption remains below 9.0 litres per 100 kilometres.
