The 2027 BMW iX4 is a fully electric SUV coupe and the third Neue Klasse model, following the iX3 into BMW’s next-generation lineup. It pairs a sloping roofline with a standard M Sport package and a full-length Panoramic Roof with Climate Glass. Two electric motors, one at each axle, drive all four wheels through BMW xDrive. The iX4 50 xDrive leads the lineup with a 400 kW peak DC charging rate and up to 680 km of range. The iX4 M60 xDrive follows with 603 hp. Inside, BMW Panoramic iDrive runs on a 17.9-inch Central Display, and an optional Highway Assistant offers hands-free driving at up to 130 km/h.
What’s new on the 2027 BMW iX4?
Exterior
The iX4 gives the Neue Klasse face an upright interpretation. Clean, reduced surfaces draw the eye to the signature BMW kidney grille and twin headlights, and the integrated front sensors sit within the same light-and-geometry unit. Large air intakes add a sporting edge, while active air flap control helps the SUV coupe reach a drag coefficient of 0.23. The BMW roundel sits in the hood’s valley above the grille.
The SUV coupe measures 4,782 mm long, 1,895 mm wide and 1,607 mm tall on a 2,897 mm wheelbase. The iX4 50 xDrive rides on 20-inch M light-alloy wheels with M Sport brakes and blue-painted calipers, and a rear spoiler with integrated brake light is standard. The iX4 M60 xDrive steps up to 21-inch M light-alloy wheels, with optional 22-inch M aerodynamic wheels. Red-painted calipers are optional on the M60 xDrive, and on the 50 xDrive they come with the optional M Sport Pro Package. Eucalyptus Green Metallic, Vegas Red Metallic and Polarized Grey Metallic are offered on both variants, with Frozen Ocean Wave Blue, Frozen Space Silver and BMW Individual Manufaktur Frozen Pure Red following from March 2027.
Interior
The cabin gives the Neue Klasse minimalist design language a sporty, driver-focused layout. Clear lines and high-quality materials shape the instrument panel, and the Panoramic Roof with Climate Glass adds light overhead. The iX4 50 xDrive offers perforated Veganza upholstery in Castanea, Agave Green, Black and Digital White as standard, with perforated BMW Individual Leather in Black as an option. Seats with electric adjustment and memory are standard, and a Wireless Charging Tray Plus is part of the cabin.
The iX4 50 xDrive seats five across two rows. The architecture was developed for electric mobility, so the long wheelbase gives legroom in front and rear, and the roofline leaves generous rear-seat headroom. Cargo space measures 490 L behind the rear seats and 1,600 L with the seats folded, and the 40/20/40 split-folding rear seatbacks are standard. A 58 L front storage compartment under the hood adds more room. Optional rear-seat heating and multifunction seats with massage suit long Quebec winter drives.

Powertrain
The iX4 50 xDrive produces 463 hp and 476 lb-ft of torque from two motors. The rear electrically excited synchronous motor makes 322 hp and 321 lb-ft, and the front motor adds 165 hp and 188 lb-ft. A 112.2 kWh usable battery sits in the underbody, within an 800 V electrical system. The 50 xDrive reaches 100 km/h in 4.9 s and tops out at 210 km/h. Range is up to 680 km. At 400 kW DC, charging from 10 to 80% takes 21 minutes, and up to 296 km of range can be added in 10 minutes. AC charging runs at up to 15.4 kW as standard.
The iX4 M60 xDrive uses an M-specific application of xDrive with a Gen6 rear motor variant. It delivers 603 hp and 645 lb-ft, reaches 100 km/h in 3.9 s and has an electronically governed top speed of 240 km/h. Bidirectional charging, an intelligent charging flap and battery preparation for faster DC charging are standard. Both variants can tow up to 4,409 lbs (2,000 kg) with the optional trailer tow hitch.
Technology
BMW Panoramic iDrive runs on BMW Operating System X and brings together BMW Panoramic Vision, the 17.9-inch free-cut Central Display and the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, a natural language voice assistant. A BMW 3D Head-Up Display is optional. BMW Maps provides charging-optimized route planning as standard, so a longer trip can be planned around charging stops. Plug & Charge Multi Contract is standard too. The iX4 50 xDrive comes with a hi-fi system with 7 speakers and 205 W. The Harman/Kardon Sound System, with 13 speakers, 430 W and Dolby Atmos, is optional on the 50 xDrive and standard on the iX4 M60 xDrive. BMW Digital Premium is optional on both.
Standard safety equipment includes Lane Keeping Assistant, Lane Change Warning, Side Collision Warning with steering intervention, Crossing Traffic Warning with emergency braking, and Emergency Brake Assistant with Evasion Assistant. Enhanced emergency steering intervention, an exit warning and Park Assist round out the standard list. Dynamic Stability Control, Dynamic Traction Control and Hill Descent Control are standard on the iX4 50 xDrive, which suits salted, slippery winter roads. Driving Assistant Plus and Highway Assistant, hands-free up to 130 km/h, are optional. For dense urban parking, Parking Assistant Plus with a 360-degree view and Parking Assistant Professional are optional.
Versions
iX4 50 xDrive ($79,900 CAD MSRP): Launches first. It carries the M Sport package, 20-inch M light-alloy wheels, the Panoramic Roof with Climate Glass and the full Neue Klasse technology set as standard. Adaptive M Suspension is optional.
iX4 M60 xDrive: Follows later in 2027, with pricing to be announced. It adds 21-inch wheels, the Harman/Kardon Sound System, Adaptive M Suspension, an electronically controlled M Sport differential on the rear axle, BMW Iconic Exterior Illumination, M interior design and an M-specific display with Powermeter.
